When we're pursuing our ultimate goal of having a baby, it's natural to want to focus solely on Plan A - the path that we hope will lead us to success.
However, as many of us know all too well, things don't always go according to plan, and it can help us navigate the process better when we begin to prepare for option B or C. This is especially true when it comes to trying to achieve something as important as starting a family.
However, many of us are hesitant to even consider alternative plans because we fear that doing so will "jinx" our chances of success. We worry that thinking about the possibility of failure will somehow make it more likely to happen. I know I have felt like this in a lot of things (not just on my path to becoming a parent) and it is totally normal and natural.
The truth is, thinking about alternative plans doesn't jinx our chances of success. In fact, it's quite the opposite. By being prepared with alternative options, we are just opening the doors to other options and for some of us, that helps us reduce stress and takes the pressure off. Instead of saying "this cycle HAS to work or we are done" if we are open to other options (even if we never pursue them) it can help us not put all the pressure on this one cycle.
